Photocatalytic Degradation and Mineralization of Estriol (E3) Hormone Using Boron-Doped TiO2 Catalyst

In this research work, boron-doped titanium oxide (B-TiO2) was prepared by the sol-gel method to investigate its behavior in degradation of recalcitrant hormone estriol (E3). The doped photocatalyst synthesized at different boron/titania ratios 2, 3, and 5 wt.% boron with respect TiO2 content. obtained materials were characterized UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), photoelectron (XPS). textural properties, specific surface area, porosity from N2 adsorption–desorption isotherms BET BJH methods, respectively. photocatalytic performance each catalyst evaluated on an aqueous solution (10 mg/L) (E3) under simulated solar radiation. variation concentration determined HPLC technique, mineralization quantification total organic carbon (TOC). results indicated that 3 incorporation exhibited best estriol, achieving complete 300 kJ/m2 accumulated energy 71% 400 (2 h) obtaining a non-toxic effluent.
